The first aid kit is an essential piece of equipment for our trip that needs to include every item that could possibly be required, so a lot of care and attention needs to be taken when putting it together. Where we will be going is very rural so there is no chance of popping into your local minor injuries to get fixed up.

Online I happened to come across a great travel website which was selling a ‘world and travel kit’ packed for larger groups. This looked perfect and included a lot of useful items in greater quantities. For example, gauze compresses, bandages, plasters, tape, wound closure strips, needles, syringes, lancet, gloves, wipes, scissors, tweezers, scalpel and CPR shield.

Other items that are needed include hydrocortisone for skin irritation and insect bites, diarrhoea relief, paracetamol, a thermometer, antihistamine tablets, and an Epipen for emergencies. Hopefully we won’t need to use much of it, but at least we will be prepared!
