A message from the team

Hello and welcome to our blog! Here you can find out everything there is to know about our project and expedition, which runs the summer of 2019 during August and September. We are a group of 8 students from the university of Exeter and Falmouth going to a brand new research area in the Eastern Madagascar Rainforest. Here we will work with local scientists from the University Antananarivo and DBCAM (Development and Biodiversity action for Madagascar) to conduct the first biodiversity surveys of the Iaroka forest.

Our aims are to better understand the Iaroka forest so future conservation plans can be implemented topreserve the forest and the livelihoods of the people around it.

Special thanks from the team go to the people who helped make our trip possible. Thank you to Ben Toulson for all his help and support throughout the making of our trip and to Sam The Seeing from DBCAM who provided us with this opportunity. We are also extremely honoured and grateful to The Royal Geographical Society and the Gilchrist Educational Trust who have helped advise and fund our expedition.
